We stayed for a few days at Rene's beautiful property during a last minute getaway to Vieques. We had no idea what to expect and were totally blown away! The house is gorgeous with a big comfortable living area/kitchen and each bedroom suite has a luxury bathroom — perfect for a group of friends (as each room is amazing, also the outdoor area is really set up for entertaining- beach bbqing, big dinners etc). It's so private, we had the beach to ourselves (except for a family of wild horses who enjoyed hanging out : ) and the pool is lovely. Rene (and the property manager, Hector) also went out of their way to give us suggestions around the island, which we loved. We decided last minute to include Vieques in our Puerto Rico trip and we wished we could have stayed much longer. The food is great, the beaches are stunning, and for such a tiny place, there's so much to explore from the nightlife in Esperanza to the bioluminescent bay and white sand beaches. Though we had to force ourselves to leave the house because it was so comfortable and sitting by the pool, the beach just in front of us, made this one of our favorite vacations! We'll definitely be back! A few tips: Definitely rent a jeep to get around the island — getting to different areas requires a car ; Groceries are a little more expensive there and if you're picky about selection it may be worth bringing a cooler of your favorites from the mainland! ; Give yourself a window of time for the ferry, sometimes they're right on time but on the way back it was very late — be prepared to wait a bit (it gives you extra time for coffee and delicious sandwiches from the nearby bakery!) Once the ferry gets there though it's super fast and efficient. Side note: We had our baby there and he had a wonderful time, the house would be great for a family getaway or reunion!
